Now that Obama AND Congress are out of town, maybe the adults can start to straighten up this mess. We have GOT to get a Constitutional Amendment for Term Limits!!!!!!

...not to mention that Hitler was legally placed in power by the populous. In the end, I'm one of those folks who don't give a rat's back-side to whether the government wants to log when I buy sudafed. I buy it when I need it, and I honestly do not think that if I just picked up 1000 packs of that stuff that a deputy/highway patrol officer/anyone will show up on my doorstep and ask, "why?" So, why electronically monitor? What are you going to do with the info? It's a lame law. Either pad the pockets of MD's more so folks have to get the script for it, or leave it alone. Either way, there are way too many "accidental" fires burning down homes in McMinn County, way too many kids being exposed to the toxic Gatorade bottles on the side of the road, and the employees at Walgreens are probably getting used to getting robbed.

Excellent point, thomas. Far too many in Government want to know WAYYY too much about our lives. I am a firm believer in "mind your own business" and that my freedoms should not intrude on the freedoms of others. Never forget that everything Hitler did in Germany was covered by "laws" and was technically legal. Just because some legislature makes a "law" does not mean that it is a just or even sensible law.

Agreed mercenary. I'm a native McMinn Countian on foreign missions in Central/Northern VA. Here meth isn't as bad. Yet, the guy trafficking weed between Norfolk and Charlottesville is getting hit with more time that the hoods who robbed a bank and shot a customer. Backwards. I originally posted a month ago when the general assembly chose to electronically monitor the sales of pseudoephedrine. VA does the same thing, here's my question: "What is too much purchasing of said cold meds and what happens once I meet this "limit"?" What is done with the data collected. Oh, Mr. Merc bought X amount of sudafed, send Joe Guy over to check him out, that's way too much? That's my question.

I don't think that either item should be a big deal to Law Enforcement. Those who insist on using meth will eventually die or wind up in prison. Resticting pseudoephedrine sales should be enough. The problem isn't with Law Enforcement or pharmaceutical availability, but with poorly educated and motivated people. If you want to make a REAL difference, work with young people BEFORE they think drugs are "cool." Next, look to your judges. It is not uncommon for deadbeat dads to get more jail time than meth producers. I would submit both deadbeat dads and meth producers are destroying this generation. And once the old timers ( like me ) are gone, who will carry this generation on the welfare and disability rolls? I suspect there will be a great "dying off" for those who will not work or learn a trade. As to ethnicity, stupidity seems to strike Americans and non native Americans alike.

Which seems to be the more important issue: Allowing law enforcement officers to ask racial profiling questions or curbing the rampant manufacturing of meth?
