| mercenary - Posted: April 22, 2010 Watching all this foolishness in Washington, listening to Harry reid once again tell us we "will like" what congress has done, as if we were 10 year old children with insufficient reasoning skills to chart our own destiny, has suddenly made me very weary. I cannot help but wonder if the fictional hero of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged," John Galt - was correct in deciding that the people who carry the weight of this country should revolt. Not with guns or acts of violence, but by simply moving away and letting the inevitable collapse of American society occur. In the novel, greedy congress critters (think Harry Reid et al), hold hearings and demand that those who produce give more and more to those who do nore and will not work. I thought it was an allegorical tale when I read it in my youth, but paragraphs jump out at me now - the senate hearings could be verbatim from a REAL modern day senate hearing! And that brings me back to my tiredness. I fear the country has made it's decision to be a nation of parasites. John Galt - if you're out there, I am ready to go with you. |
