MERCENARY: Another way of looking at it: Govts murdered some 200 million of THEIR OWN PEOPLE in the 21st century, whereas individuals murdered but a minuscule fraction of that. If anything, it is govts that should be disarmed.

Well, guess we'll have to avoid the Fair this year. I see where Etowah also decided to lose revenue by discriminating against firearms permit holders. What say we just clean sweep every politician out of office next go around and just start over. Wimpy pols are afraid of citizens with guns - maybe we should give 'em a reason! Not with the guns, but by firing their collective rears! We could live pretty good with out ANY of 'em!

I note the passing of Ted Kennedy with two thoughts, both unplesant:
(1) The left-liberal mainstream media will run wall-to-wall coverage for two weeks about what a great womanizer man he was; and
(2) I will now have to remove my long-displayed bumper sticker that reads, "Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun."

You think people are scared to death of what Obama might do as president? To borrow from an Obama campaign slogan, Yes They Are!

People across the nation, aware of Obama's anti-gun stance, have been buying guns and ammo in record quantities. So much so that ammo is in very short supply, and prices are sky-high. ... Click here for a good report on this.

By the way, Obama also supported the handgun ban in Washington, D.C., before it was tossed out last year by the Supreme Court. It seems that Obama is always on the side of big government and always on the opposite side from that of the people.

I guess my problem with the whole gun control thing is that everybody thinks someone else - some nameless group or "redneck" - is too dangerous to carry a gun. All original gun control was racist - "the powers that be" did not trust people of color or foreign immigrants with firearms. To own firearms was the right of citizens and they refused to recognize certain groups as human beings. There was a time and place where most Americans carried firearms and it was actually fairly peaceful. Do a little research and you will find that Americans carried weapons from the founding until 1968 or so, with shootouts and gunslingers much less real than TV & movies depict. Unlike all the koolaid drinkers out there, most men & women recognize that there is a thin veneer on civilzation and that one must occasionally defend themselves from those who resort to violence. Either the second amendment is for everyone, or it is not for anyone. Anyone who doesn't trust me with a firearm is suspect, in my opinion ; I want to know what their motives are. The people who want to take away my guns always want someone with guns to protect them. Take care of your self and your family and you won't have to worry about anyone else's guns.

No, you are wrong. The pervasive (widespread), all-out assault on gun ownership and possession is a relatively modern phenomenon in America.

Sure, our history shows that there have been sporadic, narrow gun laws passed by statists who wanted to oppress specific people or groups. For example, certain immigrants and "negroes" were at one time targeted for gun control. But the overriding of our Second Amendment rights on a national scale is a relatively recent tactic developed by left-liberal democrats and RINO republicans to systematically oppress and subjugate all the people.

Indeed, until 1968, handguns, rifles, shotguns, and ammunition were commonly sold over-the-counter and through mail-order catalogs and magazines to just about any adult anywhere in the nation.

I think you just mispoke, but I wanted to clarify.

I dont carry to the park because it is illegal now and always has been. "Most places" that I do carry do not have 100 plus kids in attendance. I made no reference to NO KIDS present. How do you know what my special talents are? I dont recall ever telling ANYONE what they can or cannot do. To what are you referring? Please point out where I told others what they could or could not do. And are you really comparing armed teachers in high school with armed rednecks in the bleachers? Poor example. I tried to make valid point about a potential problem, but just like always on this board, if someones view is not the same as yours you must ridicule him. I must be left-liberal because I have an opinion, and it differs from yours right? The liberals are no better or worse than the conservatives. They are all corrupt and greedy. I think Obama is just as bad as Bush, and he could prove to be worse. But that will take some real doing.
