So, Athens takes stimulus money and builds a sidewalk. Curiously, the sidewalk is where there are no home, no business, and thus no foot traffic. In residential areas, children who walk to school (if there are any of those left) have to walk in the road ways or in yards. Very odd, ya think?

Having ruined the country and murdered millions around the globe, our dear leaders will soon scurry into their little spidey holes (well-furnished graves). With them will hopefully die the myth of the nation-state - the most destructive idea ever conceived by man. Then we can set about rebuilding a free society composed of local/limited/independent governments.

Greeting Earthlings, from the planet BobbiO. We have been watching for some time and observing your curious behavior. Several oddities come to mind we would like to share with you. First, back in 1776 you didn’t have much communication in the Americas. Men would meet in taverns in the evening and talk revolution over beers because of a 5% tax on Tea. And a country was born, overthrowing the greatest power on Earth at the time. In the present, you communicate instantly over electronic devises constantly but the discussions are of no consequence. You pay 15+% Federal Tax, 7.5% SS Tax, 10% Sales tax, Medicare tax, property tax, fuel tax, and on and on. There is no talk of revolution or even distress. Have you come numb to the tax burdens put upon you by your governments? Second: You had a stable currency from 1776 until 1913. At that time you let foreign bankers sell your US government on the idea of another Central Bank. Your Congress passed a bill in the dead of night, over a Christmas Holiday with hardly anyone in Congress, and on a voice vote. To wit was created the Federal Reserve Bank, which isn’t federal, there are no reserves. Your forefathers and particularly Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson abhorred the concept of a Central Bank. It is owned by private parties to issue your currency at interest (payable to the private owners) which you could issue directly from your Treasury. And since 1913, your currency has devalued 98%. We see one man, Ron Paul, fighting this egregious wrong, but your MSM makes him out as a kook. Most curious. Lastly, for the last 40 years, it seems every tax increase was ‘for the children’ and education. Now that revenues are declining, it appears that the first cuts come in education. If the ‘children’ are so important, why don’t you first cut excessive Police forces, government staffers, and questionable ‘services’ in order to save the ‘children’ and the future? Curious. Transmission OVER.

This happened about 14 years ago. My dad, who works at Bowater stayed late one shift, ended up getting off work about an hour after 2nd shift was over, and 3rd shift had started...I think it was around 1pm. The light at the mill was malfunctioning, he sat there at the parking lot, waiting to turn toward Athens for 15 minutes. Not a car went by. Finally, when he figured the light wouldn't change, looked both ways and pulled out. Turns out one of the officers was sitting at the Hardee's, pulled him over, and slapped him a ticket. Now, granted he did "break the law." But really? C'mon. I think the fine was over $100, it was a failure to stop, which at the time was a higher fine than a DUI first offense. It's not much better, but Calhoun seems to need to be swallowed up by McMinn County, then they can get rid of all this stupidity going on over there.
