mercenary - Posted: August 21, 2009 Why, thank you, brother Thomas. Always good to know how the Friendly City's decent Christian Community feels about other citizens of McMinn County. A sincere "thank you" to Wild Willie. I do indeed have a detector in my vehicles, but even before I used them, I have never been cited for anything anywhere in McMinn County. But one doesn't have to be bitten by a snake to recognize that it is dangerous. |
WILD "waves at the po-leece as he cruises by" WILLIE - Posted: August 21, 2009 Mercenary, invest in a good radar detector. I have one in every one of my vehicles, except for the big trucks (it's illegal). Those detectors have paid for themselves many times over. As a protest against the tyranny of the poleece I intentionally speed through that speed trap they set up out past Mayfields and Johnson Controls. Hey, you all. Don't forget to go by the old Goody's parking lot this Saturday between 1000 and 1600 and sign the rolling billboard. I understand the sponsors are going to drive the billboard of signatures into the heart of enemy territory, Washington D.C. |
thomas - Posted: August 21, 2009 Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Merc. |
mercenary - Posted: August 20, 2009 Well, the good ole gang of imbeciles on the Athens City Council voted to turn City parks into a criminal's paradise. That, coupled with handgun carry prohibitions by some local eating establishments has convinced me that I should NOT spend my money locally. There are still a few intelligent areas in Tennessee that understand that I will not be a victim, nor will I subject my family to be victims; Those places will get my hard earned money, will collect my taxes and will be blessed with my smile. With crime on the rise and the economy bottoming, those who cannot or will not defend themselves WILL become victims. Me and my .45 will go other places to spend our money, and Athens can rot. Maybe you can get the police to slow revenue collection - I mean running speed traps - to protect your upper crust citizens, but that leaves 90+% of the City residents on their own. For your own safety, I urge you tostay out of Athens!!!! |
Just a good ole boy - Posted: August 19, 2009 I have a friend that works at the Honda distribution plant in Loudon. Someone tell me why the government told them to punch holes in hundreds of good engines and claim it on insurance? They loaded and hauled them off late at night for scrap. Isn't that insurance fraud? He's a boss over security and was told that when they had to escort the trucks in and out. |
TTSI - Posted: August 18, 2009 PETE: Is this the meeting about the proposed gun ban in the park (which would render it a criminal game preserve) ? Though I don't live in Athens, I really should have attended (if for no other reason than to see who the enemy is). Any info on this from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
BigBore Pete - Posted: August 18, 2009 Speaking of tyranny, as I type this the Athens City Council is meeting to trample upon our Second Amendment. Regrettably, I could not attend to voice my opposition. But you can bet your last dollar that in the next city council election I will be giving 100 percent effort to defeat any council member who votes against our Constitution. |
Political Junkie (PJ) - Posted: August 18, 2009 In the final analysis, our two-party system will eventually kill our nation. We need at least three parties, preferably four or five. The two parties we now have must represent a nation that is approaching 300,000,000 people. Dichotomizing that large of a population creates two groups that are not truly represented. For example, I believe in constitutional rule -- apparently, neither the republicans nor the democrats agree with me. I also believe in allowing abortion -- but with strict limitations and only within narrow circumstances. I am an adamant fiscal conservative. That is to say, I believe we should control our spending. With respect to defense of our country, I think we should only go to war when we are attacked or whenever there is a credible likelyhood (high probability) that we will be attacked. I believe that our individual civil liberties must be protected above all else. After all, when we lose those we have lost essentially everything. The republicans and democrats seem to try to outdo each other in passing multitudes laws that grow the federal government and diminish the individual.
I regret that I will not be around to fight in the next Lord, if it is your will, please send my Sweet Chariott, for I am tired and weary of all this oppression. |
TTSI - Posted: August 18, 2009 Why I am opposed to ANY govt meddling in health care (the 3 I's): 1) It would be ILLEGAL, being a blatant violation of the 10th Amendment. 2) It would be IMMORAL, as no one should be forced to pay for another's health care. 3) It would be INSANE, as the ONLY thing this govt is good at is KILLING people and DESTROYING things. |
