Mel -   Posted: February 03, 2009 I'd like to know why The McMinn County school system does not have an automated phone system like Meigs Co that alerts parents via the emergency numbers given, when schools are out or closing early, I had to call the school board every 15 min Monday to find out if my kids were being sent home. This is not good, since not all parents have acess to radio at work. What if the school let out and I didn't know, my kids would have been sitting on the porch in the snow?? BAD PLANNING!!! |

| NONE - Posted: January 16, 2009 DOES THE COUNTY NOT CARE THAT OUR KIDS IN MCMONN COUNTY ARE HAVING TO DRAG OUT IN THIS FRIGID COLD AIR TO GO TO SCHOOL? WHAT'S WRONG, DON'T YOU PEOPLE CARE? THE MAJORITY OF THE SCHOOLS AROUND US IN MCMINN COUNTY ARE OUT OF SCHOOL TODAY, BECAUSE MAYBE THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR KIDS, AND DON'T WANT TO RUN THE RISK OF GETTING THE SICK, AND MAKING THEM FREEZE TO DEATH. IT'S ALSO COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT MCMINN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE ANY HEAT DOWN THEIR FOREIGN LANGUAGE HALL. SO WHY WOULD YOU PEOPLE HAVE OUR CHILDREN COME INTO THAT SCHOOL AND BE COLD WHILE THEY ARE IN THOSE CLASSROOMS? IT MAY NOT BE AS COLD AS IT IS OUTSIDE, BUT I KNOW IT GETS COLD IN THERE. THE COUNTY NEEDS TO DEAL WITH THAT PROBLEM, AND MAYBE GET SOME SENSE ABOUT YOU. IF YOU CAN'T DO YOUR JOB PROPERLY, THEN MAYBE YOU DON'T NEED TO BE IN THE POSITION THAT YOU ARE IN! GET A GRIP! |

| Susan - Posted: January 15, 2009 It is 10:46 p.m. & we are still sitting here waiting to hear if McMinn county school is out for Friday. It is RIDICULAS to send these kids out to school & to wait for a bus when it is 6 degrees & -5 to -15 wind chill outside. It is riduculas for parents to have to stay up to watch late night news to figure out what to do about their children. I know schools up north are use to it, but lets get real were not in the north. People here are not use to 6 degree weather. Our McMinn County school board & transportation supervisors need to do a better job!!!!! |
