WILD " checking out Costa Rica" WILLIE - Posted: November 16, 2008 The Twentieth Century (1900's) was the era of American greatness. The Twenty-First will chronicle our inevitable decline to inglorious ignomy. Bush grew the federal government and balooned the budget deficit; Obama will do more of the same -- except worse. The election of Obama was the pivotal turning point toward socialism, from which there will be no return. Obama will take the "chicken in every pot" promise to new heights. That chicken will be a very expensive fowl, indeed. |
Redd - Posted: November 15, 2008 If we can survive eight years of idiot boy bush and liberty destroying cheny the next eight should be a cake walk. |
Lori - Posted: November 13, 2008 So a bird knocked out power to the Athens downtown area. Hmmm. Makes one wonder why we still string wire on crude wooden poles and hang them above the ground. If Mr Obama really wanted to impact this country's infrastructure, mandatory underground power grids would be a fantastic start. |

mercenary - Posted: November 11, 2008 I feel your pain, TTSI, and agree totally. The chances for the survival of this Country are not good. Philosophically, no great civilization has lasted much more than 200 years, so it may just be that our time has come. Thomas Jefferson wrote that only free men who own property should be allowed to vote, the rationale being that non property owners would only vote for a share of the Governemnt's largesse. Well, we see that once again the founders were smarter than we. As to peaceful, I am afraid the barbarians are indeed at the gates, and they will only get more vicious as society starts to fail. You know, they say the greatest Irish curse is that you "should live in interesting times." |
TTSI - Posted: November 10, 2008 Exactly !
But regarding running for office: |
mercenary - Posted: November 08, 2008 Sorry about the typos - I can spell very well, but my typing is mediocre at best! |
mercenary - Posted: November 08, 2008 Again, we are in complete agreement. Without a big Government we don't need a huge, standing military. Or national Police powers to destroy liberty and freedom. When people run for office in your state, you either know something about them or can talk to people who know the person! At the national level, all you can hope for is that journalists will do an honest job of examining the candidate and their background. The American press has been so liberal for so long, that they can't even see their own bias anymore. So we are left with "professional politicians," essentially a gruop of prostitutes who crave power over their fellow citizens. Holy Word! They are the LAST peopel we should ever elect to any position of authority. Separate States again, huh? Well, i am for the idea. States Rights should trump Federal rights every time. Hey, TTSI - run for office! |
TTSI - Posted: November 08, 2008 I think the best that we can hope for is that the USG collapse and we revert to 50 independent States. As the tyranny of govt is proportional to it's size. 90% of the USG's actions and "services" are a direct assault on our liberties, wealth, and morals. To love govt is to hate liberty. |
mercenary - Posted: November 07, 2008 You got it right, TTSI. Most of us thought McCain was a Democrat until recently. Had the republicans governed as Conservatives, they would still be in the majority in the Congress and the Senate, and maybe ( dare I say it?)even in the White House. Mr Bush's insistence on relying on Neoconservatives ( which I take to be Liberal / Moderate Republicans at best, Conservative Democrats at worst) and his continued attempts to "get along" with Democrats and a hostile media was just stupid. If only he had fought back once. Or goverened like a true Conservative... but I really never expected him to be anything but a nice, amiable guy with no sense of the malice in Washington. Just like his father. I guess that's the real problem with all these "one worlders"- they just don't understand that most Americans do not want to submit to the sovereingty of other nations. |
