Maybe all this will teach the republicons to nominate conservatives (rather than swaggering big-govt war-pig fascists). Regardless, this continued policy of unlimited spending will hasten the fall of the dollar, followed quickly by the USG itself. If I take my last breath having seen this, I will die a deliriously-happy man.

Well, the results are in. I predict rampant socialism. Going out on a limb, my formal predictions: 1. 55 MPH national speed limit will return 2. Re-enlistments in the military will slow dramatically in 2009 3. An increase in EVERYONE's taxes 4. At least 2 anti gun bills from Congress before 2009 ends 5. An increase in the gas tax ( I suspect a doubling of the Federal Gas tax ) 6. A consumption tax on SUV's and luxury cars 7. A reinstatement of the "Fairness Doctrine" 8. A complete and total amnesty bill for illegal aliens will pass 9. A ban on off shore drilling will return 10. Federalization of the economy 11. And last, but not least, the end of secret ballots for Unions.

Though I have no use for Obama, there is one thing about him that I like a lot: He gets all the right people $issed off :-).

Mercenary: Thanks !

Much has been made of McCain's accusation that Obama is a "socialist". But if so, this would be a drastic improvement over what both these "men" really are: In it's most common meaning, socialism entails the redistribution of wealth from "the rich" to "the workers". But the recent "bailout" (that both of these reptilian parasites voted for) took from the workers and gave to the rich ("robin-hood in reverse"). And since this act involved the outright nationalization of a large portion of the banking industry, this is could accurately be termed "National Socialism". And since both parties support this, they should end this "2 party" charade and merge to form the "National Socialist Party". Now that name as a real ring to it ! Plus, it has a very "noble" history (esp in Germany).

I wonder what this Council would do if faced with a thing like they had when the Stove Company was up and running. The big parking lot was to be used for building expansion, and fenced off. I went home one day and they was puting up a nice chain link fence, and no construnction was being done. I asked one City Official whay this was being done, the answer was, WE said they could. I think Mr. Hunter was one of the City officials at that time, wonder what would happen if he got elected to the City Council. At the time they was building the fence, I was told that I was not to park a Commercial Vehicle inside the City at a place of resident be the Building Inspector. I asked just how many applicance's did you get for allowing this, NO ANSWER, now I wonder what the present or future City Council would do. The present bought Athens Supply and lost Tax Revenue and jobs for several people in McMinn County, not just Athens Supply workers, but support workers as well.

TTSI, you are welcome to dine at my table anytime! Just be aware that there will be a lot of canned meats and fruits, but hey they serve up well! Still got about 1 case of MRE's, but I noticed that they are getting real expensive real fast. Maybe we're not the only ones thinking logically....

Well, yes. And no. My parents have told me about the depression in the '30's and how hard it was on everyone. And that was when the country was mostly rural and agrarian. Now very few people farm, nost people can't even hunt or fish effectively and we have at least 2 generations now that don't have a CLUE what to do when the power goes off. Compound that with no jobs, limited food stocks in stores and a break down in essential services, well, yes.I am a little paranoid and a lot worried. You still have people worried about taxpayers funding skating parks and parks to walk their dogs easily when a lot of people are in financial crisis! If everything turns our all rosy and our politicians can throw our money away on useless crap again, I figure that, at the very worst, I'll have a lot of canned goods and nitrogen packed foods to eat over the next few years. Hey, Reddog - I LIKE to eat! I am praying that I am COMPLETELY wrong. Ummm - it would NOT be the first time!

Well, I laid in some wood, sealed the windows and began stocking up on canned goods and bottled water. I figure any cash on hand now will be worth less in a month or so. Also picked up several boxes of ammo, gas stabilizer and put some spare parts for the truck in the shed. New heavier locks on all doors, entry siren alarms on ALL entrances and laid in several plastic buckets and barrels. So the end begins with a whimper from the freakin'stock market?
