Hook - Posted: September 25, 2008 The sad part is the big dogs who caused it are going to walk away with millions in severance packages. All of our elected cowards should be thrown out on their ears. |
TTSI - Posted: September 25, 2008 RE the "bail-out": This is the biggest CON ever attempted in history. Luckily, it is also one of the most pitifully-executed. Bush (with puppet strings clearly visible) claimed that if we don't convert to a socio-fascist state, that there will be a long-term recession. What a disgracefully-low price he places on liberty and principle. And what are we to expect will be the result of heaping thousands of dollars of dept onto the backs of every American ? - Recovery ?? There *will* be a recession, regardless of what these ghouls do. The choice is whether we will take it like Americans, or take it like cowardly fools who did not *sell* their souls, but who actually *purchased* their entry into hell. |

TTSI - Posted: September 20, 2008 The bright side: As the state sinks into the dark/cold waters of bankruptcy (while desperately grasping at the straws of outright socialism), note that there is STILL no talk of bringing the troops home. This is because the soulless suits of DC literally value their wars, empire, and precious "macho" egos more than their very lives (and those of their families). This crash will likely bring terrible hardships and pain to us all. But if I outlive this criminal parasitic beast that we call "government", then I'll die a happy man - for our descendants will be free of this curse. |
Tired of the council - Posted: September 16, 2008 If the closets of our fine upstanding council members were really open you probably would want to clear the hole lot out and start over. You learn a lot when you listen to some of our older folks who know some of there history. Also dealing with these fine folks outside of government sheds some light on themselves.I am sorry but I have no use for any of the entire council. None of them appear to see past there on desires for the good of the city. I will be voteing for new blood in both the upcoming slots. |
mercenary - Posted: September 16, 2008 Mr Harris - I have no doubt that you believe this story was important, and that you believe it was "just the facts." If this were the only DPA Alvey story for the last two years, it would be much more defensible. But when other member of the Council vote en bloc supporting controversial people and positions and the DPA not only does not investigate them, but publishes editorials supporting those decisions...well, you don't have to be a Shannon Alvey supporter to ask "What is going on?" It does not go unnoticed in this community that the DPA has never seen a tax or governemnt spending that it does not support. Yes, we do understand that editorial is opinion and reporting is supposed to be separate, but please look at it from another point of view. How many stories have been done about individuals on the Council and their personal financial standings NOT including Ms Alvey? This information could be very useful if we knew a Council member was tied to someone or something on which they were voting to spend money. Mr Harris, I agree that you did not use sensational or inflammatory language, did not attempt to lead the reader to any point of view and gave essential information. My question is simply when will this much attention be paid to Council members who have spent way too much community money and supported marginal personnel, yet never get the "personal" touch from the DPA. Your assignment editor would do well to let you review some of the good ole' boys. The skeletons in their closets might earn you a Pullitzer...if the DPA would print it. good luck with your career. |
Mercenary - Posted: September 14, 2008 Ms Alvey I see that "good ol' boy" politics are alive and well as they continue to try and villify you. While i never agree 100% with any politician, I will never understand why people can't just discuss the facts and leave personal lives alone. Please know that you have support from many people in the community. Sadly, the DPA personnel seem to have a vendetta. So much for fair and balanced reporting, huh? |
