I have a question for Jerry Riggs. Are towing companies regulated on how much they can charge people when they impound their cars; for instance, if you parked on private property and the owner wanted your car towed off of it, can the towing company charge anything they want, and can they make you pay cash only?

Defenders of liberty are celebrating now that the "Supreme" Court has finally (but narrowly) stated the obvious: That the intent of the 2nd Amendment is to preserve the right of individuals (i.e. "people") to own firearms. But it is a hollow victory at best, because the accompanying statements of these morons plainly show that they don't even know the meaning of the words "right" or "infringe":
"Assuming that Heller is not disqualified from the exercise of Second Amendment rights, the District must permit him to register his handgun and must issue him a license to carry it in his home."

But when you have to obtain permission to do something, that is called a PRIVILEGE (NOT a "right"). Free speech is also a right. Do we need a license to speak ? Must our speeches be registered ? And is not requiring a license a blatant infringement ??

Murdock v. Pennsylvania, 319 US 105:
"No State shall convert a liberty into a privilege, license it, and charge a fee therefore."

Sherer v. Cullen, 481 F 946:
"There can be no sanction or penalty imposed upon one because of this exercise of constitutional rights"

Shuttlesworth v. City of Birmingham Alabama, 373 US 262:
"If the State converts a right (liberty) into a privilege, the citizen can ignore the license and fee and engage in the right (liberty) with impunity."

JW, Mr. Clean passed away on Thurs., June 12th – The service was on Tues., June 17th. They played a video / photo collage of his life during the Visitation portion of the service. I cannot tell you how many times I watched it from 9:30 am until 11:30 am, but it never got old. It began with his birth announcement and went all the way up to present day -- It was heart-warming to see all the wonderful stages of his life and his family. Regardless of his age, he always had that big, beautiful smile! The Memorial Service was equally beautiful -- With especially tender moments as his life-long friend, Mark Lefler spoke about his adventures with David from the 1st grade through adulthood. I could not help but smile and even laugh at one point (through the tears) as Mark shared a funny story about them "borrowing" a truck one night... Something he said he had never shared with anyone. Overall, I believe David would have been very pleased with the service and the way his family celebrated his life. Although I know "Mrs. Clean" is a very strong and courageous woman, I ask that everyone please remember to lift her up in your prayers... Mr. Clean was my friend -- He loved his family and his community -- He worked very hard in many capacities to make Athens and McMinn County was a great place to work and live. One last note: As a City Council Member, Mr. Clean often sent me emails regarding various topics in an effort to assist me in improving my ability as a public servant. The last email I received from him was on Friday, June 6th at 7:25am and it simply said: "This article shows the type of leadership citizens are wanting from city hall and our council." The URL listed below was attached to the article he sent me... URL: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080605/D91466O80.html As I have said before, He will be greatly missed...

We lost Mr Clean to a heart attack. He was only in his mid 50's and was a very nice guy. As Shannon says, he will be greatly missed. I hate having lost the chance to get to know him better.
